What You’ll Learn
The Online EMT Program at Axon’s Texas EMS School is designed to prepare you to meet the challenging demands of the EMS career field, and to prepare for the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) cognitive and psychomotor skills exams.
NREMT Cognitive Skills
You’ll learn essential EMT skills that will ensure you have the confidence to succeed. Our course covers all of the essential topic areas needed to prepare for the NREMT exam. These include airways, respiration & ventilation; cardiology & resuscitation; trauma; medical; obstetrics/gynecology; EMS operations; and patient care for adult, geriatric, and pediatric patients.
NREMT Psychomotor Skills
This course covers the proper order, procedure, and practice required to master skills from the National Registration of Emergency Medical Technicians skills sheets.
You’ll learn how to perform the following EMT psychomotor skills with confidence:
- Patient Assessment/Management – Medical
- Patient Assessment/Management – Trauma
- Bag-Valve-Mask (BVM) Ventilation of an Apneic Patient
- Oxygen Administration by Non-Rebreather Mask
- Spinal Immobilization – Seated Patient
- Spinal Immobilization – Supine Patient
- Bleeding Control / Shock Management
- Cardiac Arrest Management – AED
- Joint Immobilization
- Long Bone Immobilization

- Format: Highly personalized online format with no mandatory meeting times and online tutoring options, with limited hands-on Skills Labs as well as face-to-face clinical and field experiences.
- Hours: 168 hours of instruction.
- Field Experience: 48 hours of ambulance-based field experience.
- Clinical Internship: 24 hours of clinical internship in a hospital emergency department. (Field Experience may be substituted if pre-approved)
